I have been running this product for about a week. The installation was
fairly standard for a network attached device. There is a piece of
client software that is installed on the PC that allows you to connect
& disconnect from devices attached to the USB ports and a browser
connection to attach to the HMPS2U. This allows access to a status page
and a configuration page where you have the option of setting up the
network connection the way you want.
I have attached 3 printers to the server, 2 label printers and an Epson MFP. All of the printers installed without a problem and I was able to connect to the scanner function on the Epson.
In general I'm happy with the product and it performs functionally as advertised with one small hiccup, it loses connection constantly if left to idle for a short time. There is no function on the Control Center software to re-attach to the server nor can you access the browser configuration page (obviously). I find that the only solution is to power cycle the server and it will show up in the Control Center software after a few seconds. Because of this I can only give it 3 stars, however if there is a future software of firmware upgrade to address this problem or I find new information about the configuration of the device that eliminates this issue, I would have no problem giving the HMPS2U 5 stars.
